ElectricFish and Genvision will receive equity-free grant funding of USD 50K to support their operations from Zuora, and all the participant startups will receive USD 5K in grant capital for milestone from the HPE Foundation

Washington, DC (January 18, 2024) – Village Capital announced that ElectricFish and Genvision were peer-selected to receive equity-free grant funding as a part of Sustainability Subscribed 2023 in the US. The program was launched with support from Zuora, and with support from the HPE Foundation.

The final cohort was composed of 10 startups from different states, with 40% of the cohort headquartered outside of US tech hubs, 50% led by a female founder or C-suite member, and 80% led by a BIPOC founder or C-suite member.

ElectricFish and Genvision were selected for grant funding by a group of peer entrepreneurs on the final day of “Sustainability Subscribed 2023,” a four-month startup development program. The 10 participant startups evaluated each other through an investor lens, using eight specific investment criteria that leverage Village Capital’s venture investment levels. ElectricFish and Genvision were the top ranked by their peers and will receive equity-free grant funding of USD 50K from Zuora to support their operations, and all the participant startups will receive USD 5K in grant capital for milestones from the HPE Foundation.

The peer-selected startups focus on the following:

  • ElectricFish (Fremont, California) builds and deploys resilient and flexible EV infrastructure to accelerate decarbonization, and support community adaptation to climate risks.
  • Genvision (New York City, New York) measures CO2 removal in nature using satellites.
