New Resource for Startup CEOs: Nine exercises to help you build your team

By

A few years ago we asked 400 early-stage entrepreneurs about their biggest barrier to growth. Their number one answer: hiring and retaining high-quality talent.

In response, we reached out to members of our network to ask for their advice on how to hire, onboard and build a team. We’ve designed a talent playbook for startup CEOs. Each of the nine chapters covers a component of early-stage human capital strategy, followed by an exercise or activity to put that idea into practice.

Download the playbook and start doing the exercises today.

The playbook was created as part of the Argidius-ANDE Talent Challenge, a project to help small and growing businesses in emerging markets gain access to talent. The exercises include:

  • Storytelling: An exercise on building your company's “story of self” in a way that motivates your team
  • Onboarding: A checklist to help you determine whether you’re setting up new hires for success
  • Role mapping: A framework to help you think through how to define roles, responsibilities and authority on your team
