Mexico City (December 14th, 2022) Village Capital, with support from MetLife Foundation, announced that Tu Consejería and AInwater were peer-selected to receive equity-free grant funding as a part of “ADAPT: Social Innovation for a More Resilient Future in Latin America”. The investment-readiness program supported entrepreneurs to scale their solutions around climate change, healthcare, and economic mobility in the region, with a focus on cross-cutting or intersectional issues that directly impact an individual’s or community’s ability to achieve resiliency and adapt to ongoing environmental, social, and economic challenges.

Over 120 startups from 17 countries applied to be a part of the accelerator. The final cohort was composed of the top eight startups from four countries: Brazil, Chile, Guatemala, and Mexico. Out of the eight startups, 50% are headquartered outside of major tech hubs in the region, and 50% are led by a female founder and/or CEO.

Tu Consejería and AInwater were selected for grant funding by a group of peer entrepreneurs on the final day of ADAPT: Social Innovation for a More Resilient Future in Latin America, a three month venture development program. The eight participant startups evaluated each other through an investor lens, using eight specific investment criteria that leverage Village Capital’s venture investment levels. Tu Consejería and AInwater were ranked “most investment ready” and will receive $20,000 each in grant funding from MetLife Foundation.

The two companies are focused on the following:

  1. Tu Consejería (Guatemala City, Guatemala) offers an affordable communication tool that includes chat and video, allowing underserved communities to access psychological support from mental health professionals.
  2. AInwater (Santiago, Chile) is a platform that combines artificial intelligence with engineering to control and optimize energy consumption during wastewater treatment.
